Why is there so much price difference between brand name Lithium-Ion Rechargeable batteries and other brands?

For example, an original Canon NB-4L Battery is around $50 while average price for other brands is $5 - $20. I even saw them for $0.21 from www.power101.com but they seem a 1 man dodgy company (according to gmaps and bbb.org)Why is there so much price difference between brand name Lithium-Ion Rechargeable batteries and other brands?
1. Quality control. Canon, being a top manufacturer, has to offer top quality batteries.

2. Licensing profit. Canon can charge a premium price for a genuine product, it is their right and privilege.

An off brand manufacturer typically doesn't owe anything to Canon, nor has a reputation to keep, so can skimp a bit on QC and genuine accessory license fees.
